Welcome To First Grade!
Wow! Can you believe the first 9 weeks is complete? Time really has flown by with all our learning and growing!
Thank you to all the wonderful parents who helped to fill our snack box. Our snack box is full and we are set with snacks for a while. I will let you know when we run low again.
Conference Day was a success and I enjoyed talking to everyone who was able to make it up to school that day. If you were unable to attend I am in the process of rescheduling and I hope to talk to you soon.
This Friday the 23rd we will be visiting "The Pumpkin Patch". That should be a fun day for all of us. All students will need a permission slip and 1$ to purchase a small pumpkin.
Next Friday the 30th is our 50's day! So get those poodle skirts and rolled up jeans ready. Mrs. Waters our wonderful PE teacher has fun activities planned. So hope to see you as "we rock around the clock"!
As we begin the 2nd 9 weeks students are being encouraged to be more independent during our work activities. I will be reading tests less and less to the students and they will be expected to be doing the majority of the reading. Of course help will be given on a "as needed basis".
Please continue to practice weekly sight words nightly and review past words too. This will go a long way toward helping your student become an independent reader. Remember to read nightly also and complete the reading log. Readers are Leaders!
We are now learning addition strategies in math and all about nouns in language. We are busy, busy learners!
Please contact me whenever you have questions or concerns.
I am looking forward to another fantastic 9 weeks.
